At College Park Academy, we understand that the students of today need a unique school experience. That is why much study and preparation has gone into what sets us apart from other public charter schools in the area. Our students can expect a true difference in our teaching methods, our environment, and our approach to learning. Beginning with middle-school-aged students, we begin to set students up for success both inside the classroom and out in the world.
UMD Partnership
We have partnered
With the top-ranked University of Maryland (UMD) to offer our students a wide variety of Advanced Placement and college courses, including those taught by UMD faculty. We provide students a personalized school experience which meets their individual needs by offering a mix of on-site classes and online learning. By the time our students graduate, they demonstrate mastery of core subjects including English, math, science, social studies, fine arts, physical education, health, technology, and world languages. Much of the curriculum is project-based and designed to enhance learning, providing students a hands-on experience where they learn to approach problem-solving with collaboration, creativity, and innovation.
Environment
College Park Academy provides a supportive school environment where students learn, grow, and thrive. With only 677 students, our intentionally small school maximizes attention for each student to ensure success. Having such a small school allows for each student to take advantage of resources and support. Our devoted staff and partnership with UMD creates an extensive support network committed to the growth of our students and partnership with parents and caretakers. College Park Academy students graduate with the skills, knowledge, confidence, and support to dive into their future academic and career endeavors.
Our curriculum
Our curriculum designs intellectually challenging, technology-driven projects and requires each student to own a laptop. The presence of technology assists in maximizing and enhancing the students’ education. Working individually on their own laptops, our students gain a sense of self-control and responsibility. College Park Academy students drive their own education and this provides them the lifelong skills required to succeed in adulthood.
