Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers

What are the school hours?

Homeroom begins at 8:20 AM. Dismissal begins at 3:05 for high school and 3:07 for middle school.

With so much of the curriculum online, how do kids get the traditional experience of social interaction and pen to paper?

CPA partners with UMD to design collaborative projects where students work together to develop their problem-solving skills. We help students become innovative and creative thinkers, with an advanced understanding of technology and teamwork, but they still use physical books and work on paper as well. CPA balances the need for a technologically-literate youth with the benefits of traditional youth education, providing them with a well-rounded, multi-faceted education.

How do online classes work?

The curriculum is online through Connexus: our online platform and site where students access their assignments, modules, lessons, and grades. Here, parents also have access to student grades and progress reports. Classes can be done at any time and lesson clips can be repeated at any time as needed. This ability allows students to rewatch lessons they have a difficult time understanding, and complete coursework at the pace right for them. Online courses include teachers for student support, and CPA provides success coaches to help the students with technology and any further questions.
